The weekend after next, 18,19,20th My Heaven will be tied up at the champoeg state park dock. Last weekend we checked it out, really nice dock looks almost new, plenty of space for a handful of dorys. 72 hour tie up. There are no services at the dock, however there are bathrooms just at the top, no showers. If anyone in the Portland/Metro area was looking for a good time this would be a great spot for the weekend. You'll have to launch just slight up river. Anyhow, any wants to join they are more than welcome. :smiled

Hi Bryrick,

As Champoeg is just a skip and jump from Canby, I hope that I will be able to get over to see you. By the way, you can launch right off of I-5 at the Charboneau exit.

There are three basic rules of navigation for that stretch of the Willamette. 1) Stay in the middle; 2) Stay in the middle; 3) Stay in the middle. There are some shallow shelves that come up along the sides. You will also need to keep a watch for trees in the water. The skiers usually mark them, but then they have been known to miss one on occasion.

There are some interesting stretches of water down stream of the Canby ferry, down to the Willamette Falls area. Again, there are three rules of navigation. If you like small mouth fishing, there is a very good smallie fishery all through the Willamette.

For the folks who are not familiar with French, Champoeg is pronounced "Shampooeeee".

Bryrick,

There is a lot of parking, although on the weekends, the lots fill up with the ski crowd. Push come to shove, you could put the trailer at my house. There are also some farms along Butteville Road that offer parking. I think they would be more secure than the public lots.
