Hey Michael !

Justs some general knowledge. They all look to charge about the same. I was looking for the things that only the folks that are local and/or use them know..... Which as facilities for safely storing the tow vehicle and trailer during a visit, which are the cleanest, which has the best food/beverage service, which is the most fun.... just that type of stuff.

If you were using one of them for about a week, which would you use?

I am planing on attending the Great Loop Association Rendesvous 21-24Apr08. May also kick about the area a bit for while either prior to or after.

Looks that you had a great trip down to Tampa and back. Can not wait to cruise the east coast a bit more.

Thanks for your reply!

Byrdman,

If you plan to spend most of your time site seeing Charleston, then the Charleston Maritime Center would be your best location. City, Ashley, and Cooper River Marina's are but a short cab ride to the outer peninsula where the market, battery, and other historical attractions are. If you want to be close to the Great Loop event, you may want to consider Charleston Harbor Marina at Patriots Point (www.charlestonharborresort.com). I think all are likely equal in quality and food is a short trip by land or water from any of them.

As far as storing your rig, I don't think any of them will be much help there. The one exception might be the Cooper River Marina. Your best bet would be to take Boatline up on their offer or find a local commercial storage area. Send me an email once the time draws nearer as I may be able to help in that regard as well.

There is plenty of great water in and around the Charleston area to check out. They are serious about security in the harbor so be prepared. If you are boarded, it is typically courteous, quick and painless.

This is Byrdman on Terry's laptop, yep, up in the NE a bit just out of Buffalo, NY. We talked on the phone yesterday, it was snowing up here good and been a while since we had hung out, so, used one of the free Southwest air tickets that was about to expire...and bingo! Beautiful snow, but that is my southern opinion, and may not be shared by all of Terry's neighbors...

Thanks for the feedback.... Others let me know if you are going to be at and/or around the Charleston Great Loop events.
