Christmas gifts for 2011

next to the exit would be a great place. If and when the boat rolls over you will have little of no time to go looking for things. When I pulled that couple off a over turned boat the man had no vest on. He tried to get one on at the last second but it got hooked on something and nearly pulled him under. I would mount this unit out side of the cabin.

My only concern with mounting next to the door is what I thought of also, when it releases it goes to the surface and sends the signal, if the canvas is up it would then not be able to do this, so I was then thinking of at the back of the high top so it would be above the canvas. The other idea was to get a bigger boat!

On larger boats these types of EPRIB's are mounted on the top deck--C Dory this would relate to the cabin top. Problem is potential theft. Yes, people are not only so foolish as to steal an EPRIB, but to also set them off, so that the FAA or Navy (in our area) goes looking for them (and finds the thief).

You are correct theft would be an issue, maybe I could make a quick disconnect setup to remove it while not out cruising. He knew I was looking forward to An Alaskian trip in a few years, just a bit of an overkill. But he is an engineer.
