CINCO DE MAYO is celebrated every year on May 5th but how many of you know that it's really a maritime story that began because of an event which happened a few hundred years ago. The Spanish had subjected the Mexicans to a harsh and cruel existence....BUT when they tried to force mayonaisse on the people they revolted and sunk the Spanish ship in the harbor that was loaded with mayonaisse. Mexicans have been celebrating SINK-O-DEE-MAYO ever since. To this very day you will not find mayonaisse on a taco.

If you ever want to hear my story about my brass goose named Dover, let me know. That one is better told in person.

Happy Birthday to Jeff of IMMACU~NADA. Hope your day was a good one. :cake :love :cake

Good Girl Ruth!!

Thanks, Herb! I need all the help I can get around here, although I do have to say that when Joe told the oldest grandson that story several years ago Jonathan told his teacher he knew all about Cinco De Mayo. Then the teacher asked him to come up and tell the class. After Jonathan had taken his seat, the teacher said that was ''Very good, Jonathan, very good"...........

Ruth-
Quick, get Joe out on the boat and away from the computer before he degenerates into full time story telling on the site.

heh, heh.. good one Ruthie.. you gotta love Jonathan..and his teacher

Joe the full-time story teller? Marvelous - I'll vote for that. We have Dave the Preacher and Joe the Story Teller. I could suggest a few others, but maybe better left unsaid ...

And Happy Birthday, Jeff ... or is that another one of Joe's stories?

Oh, and our Grandson Bryce is still telling "Joe's Story" - about the day he was fishing for halibut and snagged a Gray Whale by the tail ... His classmates were wide-eyed over that tale, Joe.

Good to see you here on the C-Brats site again Joe.

And happy Birthday Jeff.

And I bet Ruth is not taking much responsibility for teh brass goose story either.

Just what fifth were they celebrating :?:

Storyteller in action.

We want to wish Jeff a Happy Birthday so thought it'd be fitting to bring this old thread up to let him know that we thinking of him (and Diane, too) as he celebrates his special day (possibly still on their trip to Europe). Hoping to see them at one of the C-Brat gatherings this year. We miss you!

And a Happy Cinco De Mayo (SINK-O-DE-MAYO) to everyone!
PS: Ruth is still not claiming any responsibility for the story about the mayonaise :)
