Cockpit Grates

I am new to the C Dorys, having just acquired a 2003 22CD Cruiser.
I now have Drydek in the cockpit but it is not enough if there is much water in the cockpit.
I am thinking about building grates out of Mahaugany slats. Probably raise the deck about 2 inches.
Good idea or not and why??

Our 22 footer had two pallet-like inserts (port and starboard) that fit together on the cockpit's deck. I liked them a lot. They leveled out the standing area and kept it clean, and they removed easily to hose out the cockpit.

At one point, CDory made "floorboards" that came in two pcs that made the cockpit deck level and raised them in the center. They were pretty pricey though and hard to ship.

I, too, have drideck. And only a couple of times when it rained and I didn't have the bilge pumps on auto did I find water deeper than the drideck was thick. Think I would be concerned if the pumps could not keep it at that level. I kind of like standing on the "bottom", and less weight added aft, too.
