I have a new 22-C. We spent Memorial Day weekend on her. We used the port locker on the transom for a cooler with two blocks of ice. It worked OK because it was chilly at night in RI. It will never work in the summer.

So, what is an option for a cooler that won't take up too much room and that will hold food for three days and wine?

And where is a good place to store it?

we use a square tall ice chest and place it against the cabin wall on the back deck. Stays out of my way while fishing and can be used as a seat. longer ice chest placed in the engine well on some type of support are very common and works well. We use the port locker for trash and I have one battery there. I was thinking of moving the battery and having susan make a custom liner out of the same material as soft side ice chest for that locker.
 
What I did with the port side locker was to line it with an insulated softside cooler that was manufactured for dispensing ice cream. http://www.tcb-bagmfg.com/page0007.html It will keep ice cubes for a couple of days; I'm sure you will have a little more success with some small blocks. I like it because it keeps a cooler off the deck.

swee pea, what size did you use?? that is what I was thinking of making. much easier to buy one and cheaper i bet. Do you have a battery in that side?
 
The factory optional stainless motorwell rack/cooler setup with the 100 Qt. Igloo Ultracold is a pretty nice setup . Off the floor and deflects engine noise as well .

A $70 Coleman Xtreme works really well, and will keep ice for 5-7 days. Or, if you're really feeling upscale, a $350 Yeti fiberglass cooler would be nice....

I do not have any batteries in the port side locker. My locker is actually plumbed to be an ice chest; from the dealer. The softside I purchased was the HWK 1-D, I think - it was a while ago. Just measure the space you have and see what they have available. Since it is soft, it will kind of mold itself to the area. Mine fits snug. Having the velcro flap to enter and exit the softside is convenient. In addition, I plumbed the softside bag with a drain so when the ice melts and I want to remove it, I simply "unplug" the drain and water goes out the bottom of the bag and locker. I used a thru hull plastic fitting to plumb the bag and a drain plug like we use on the transom to seal the drain. Works great. Hope this helps.
