Customizing to make it "ours"

Taking tips from may other owners out there, we've made some new modifications to our 25 Cruiser. First, we copied a few of you by enlarging the entrance to the V berth. It came out great and even gives more leg room to the "mate". We also added a t top over the cock pit. With the wind and waves here, we lost our bimini top on our previous boat the 2nd time out - and it wasn't even open. We replaced it with a welded framed t top and canvas from "Tim's Towers", right here in Southport. So we called on Tim again and he did a great job. It's extra high to allow for the higher floor and our 6'4" son. The height also ensures good ventilation underway. It's set up so we can easily enclose it with canvas or screens. Pictures of both are now posted.
 
Nice mod. We're happy with our King (factory installed at the time) camperback, but that mod certainly does give you more height in the cockpit.

One of the great things about these boats is the adaptability. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit two Lazyboy recliners and a hot tub.

Very nice modification!

I had a very sturdy, welded arch on a previous Hunter sailboat. It had a bimini similar to what you have pictured.

That arch ruined skimpy aluminum framed enclosures for me forever. Give me something beefy I can actually grab onto without yanking it out of the boat!

I have held off getting an enclosure for my 22 because 1) I did not want a flimsy installation and 2) I wondered if having a roof over my head would make me miss the wide open skies. I also never quite understood the "it's like having an extra room!" comment that people gush about UNTIL someone mentioned "wet room". The dim light bulb in my head brightened a little then as I realized I do NOT want to enter the cabin streaming water off my foulies.

I may look up your guy in Southport for a similar installation.

Easy Mod Jim. Plug the cockpit drains, get the flotable EZ Boy's, hook up to shore power, run a hose from the hot water in the sink through a window to the cockpit, seal the door, turn on the hot water and wait! :mrgreen:

Don't try this at home.. :roll:

Now that the inflatable hot tub is out of the closet, I wonder who'll be the first Brat to try one. I saw one ofThese on an American Tug with it's own separate propane water heater in the engine room! :thup
