Deluxe crab/shrimp line reel

nice reel, my guess its meant for a stern line
could be adapted to fit on ss rail in the transom area.

I stow our stern line in 5 gal bucket not the best it always seems to be in the way.

I just noticed the price maybe I'll stick with the bucket

Nice..

Another option:
Garden-hose reel
Seen a few guys use them out in PWS. Must be able hold 600 to 800 feet of lane or more, that’s how deep the shrimp are out there.
Problem I see is finding a place to put it.

The garden hose reel is what I use now. I can put two 400 ft poly lines with 75 ft of lead core at the end. Works great . One of us will work the puller while the other works the reel.

Triple J, the rubbermade one I use will hold 1,200' and the crank handle folds in. While the pots are soaking it can be tied almost anywhere since it is constructed of plastic softer than the gelcoat and will not do any damage.
I have lashed it up on one of the rear corners. No points for style but the fact that it is not fixed in place allows you to line it up as you sit on a jump seat or on a cooler opposite the hauler and operator.

We use one of these things attached to a buoy to pull our pots. When we get to the pots I need to unfasten the line from the string of pots to remove the buoy and reattach to the other end; a large garden tub works ok for stacking the line.
Out where we go there’s not many boats around so having 600 feet of line trailing out behind the boat isn't a problem.
If everything clicks we can circle around to the pots, pick and re-bait, then re-set without ever pulling in the line. Can pick up and re-set a string of 3 pots in about 20 minutes, next year I’m going to try 4 with a bigger buoy.
The hardest part is hand pulling the 50 to 75 feet between pots, defiantly builds upper body strength.
When we finally have to pull in the line it only has to lay in the tub, coiling isn’t necessary.
We definitely try to subscribe to the KISS philosophy..

Capt Steve, I am sorry for not giving credit to you for the idea. I said I use, I didnt say I thougth of it. Are you ready for shrimp season yet? I can wait for it. I need to get some boat time soon. All this snow is getting to me. I need to fish or go skiing.

Tom, sorry? Thats it? It may be the snow but Capn Steve will be shrimping with a peg leg and an eye patch next season and for those who shrimp HIS grounds, it will be time to hand over 10% of the catch or face buckets of flying prawn heads and hollow cans of friskies cat food.
Ierrrrr!
