We have a C-dory 25 and would like to know the best place to put a dinghy?

Put the dinghy on the cabin roof. See the photos of use of a davit:
The first sub album on page 28 of Thataway photos, has 20 pictures on rigging and getting the dingy onto the top of the cabin. This is a 9 1/2 air floor inflatable weight about 70#. You can also wrestle it over the foredeck, or even up the side of the boat and onto the cabin, if you are younger and stronger than we are. But the davit works well, and is not all that expensive. You want the larger diameter pipe, and a one foot to 18" extension (the bottom pipe will be longer). Cost will be about $450 currently.
We put in a second station in the aft port side of the cockpit. With this we can lift chest refrigerators/freezers aboard, pick up a dinghy motor off a transom mount and put it on the dingy, etc...Maybe even bring a person who has fallen off aboard...depeding on weight...

As Bob describes, the cabin roof will be your only practical option unless you construct something like Harvey has on SleepyC:

The orientation on the cabin roof will depend on other stuff you have on the roof. Our boat has a radar dome at the front, so we orient the dinghy facing aft:

Thanks Les for finding my one off storage place :lol: AS Less mentioned, that works unless you have a Bimini or camper-back Or, if you use the inflatable as a substitute for either of those. I use my dingy less often than some, but it works for both shade and rain cover, and sometimes for a shower, ( and water heater too -- black bottom up).
