Well...after a somewhat hairy upgrade, we now have file upload capabilities in place. My apologies to any of you who saw strange site behavior earlier today during the work...
For now, until we all get a feel for how this might work best, the uploads are limited to the new Documents section in The Library. It is possible to allow uploads in any of the forums, but I'm concerned that might get too unwieldy; keeping documents in their own section might help with that.
Also, please limit new posts in the Documents section to those containing attachments. This will help keep the documents from getting buried in discussions. Follow-ups to the posts containing documents are fine.
So, if you have something of interest to upload, have at it. When in the Documents section and you post a new topic, you will see a new section below the message area for attachments; click the "Browse" button to find the file on your PC, add a comment if you wish, then click the "Add Attachment" button. When everything looks OK, click the "Submit" button as usual to post your topic with the file attached.
Currently, attachments are limited to most popular document types; PDF's, Word documents, etc. PDF's are the preferred format - everyone can read them, not just those with Windows. I can convert just about any document to a PDF - if you want to send it to me in some other format, I'll be glad to convert it and post.
Also, there's a 1MB size limit in place to help prevent our limited disk space from getting eaten up. This is probably sufficient for most documents, but if you want something larger posted, drop me a note and we'll try and figure something out.
Have fun!
