Several weeks ago Sue and I were on the Intercoastal just out of Apalachicola and ran across Ed Thieme anchored up a bayou ....Neat guy...Travels aboard his 25 cruiser for a YEAR then spends another year in Colorado where he skis and does winter stuff.....

Rambler is his boats name... we visited for about an hour...he had a Dickerson heater running and it was really nice... especially being able to watch the fire... No stove...he uses a small portable camping stove..says it is just easier and he needs the counter space... has lots of little modifications to make long liveabords easier... He also gets great mileage with his big Honda... because he only cruises about 5 knots...no need to go fast... and like we found him...all alone up an empty bayou..anchored in...pole out..

Was neat to see someone living aboard....enjoying the boat like it should be enjoyed.... We had coffee with him...then on down the river with us.....makes me think we live life to fast....

We met Ed when he was cruising around Washington state in 2007. Nice to hear that he's doing okay and enjoying his C-Dory.

We met Ed many years ago (June 01) when he was anchored in a slough off the Champlain Canal, just south of Lake Champlain. He gave us a tour of the marvelous adaptations he had made on his CD-22. He was one of the first C-Dorys we met on the water in our early cruising days. Wonder if he remembers that brief encounter with Halcyon?

Here's one of our tales of Lake Champlain - a little early American history and a brief mention of meeting Ed.
