Has any one used an electic skillet on thier boat?i do have a Coleman stove as well. I also have a generator.I donot have a Wallis Stove. I also have a nice little 7 inch tv, it gets very good reception and a nice picture.

I haven't used an electric skillet - I have a Wallace. But with shore power, I don't see a particular reason why it wouldn't work. What some have done (which is a bit more versatile) is to use an induction cooker. The nice thing about an induction cooker is that you can use it with any steel pan to which a magnet will stick (e.g. not stainless) so it has more uses than just a skillet. Also, the cook surface cools down as soon as the pan is removed so it can be stowed quickly. Another cooking device you might try is a crock pot. It takes time to cook but the smaller ones can be run on a low power inverter. I've got one that only draws 75 W and I've had it cooking while I was fishing. Hot soup on a cold day is always good on the boat.
We used a electric skillet on our 84 day trip to Nashville and back last summer. It worked great. We do not have a stove. We used a convection toaster oven, coffee pot, microwave and the skillet to fix our meals. The outlets are 15 amp limited on our boat so you have to pick and choose what you cook with. Microwave and coffee pot work ok but toaster oven must run by itself. Not a problem if you plan ahead your cooking needs. We have a Honda 2000i for power at anchor and it runs the items like shore power. The skillet has lots of uses not just frying . It can bake, steam, boil water for pasta and heat soup. It is a great little addition to the boat.
We have used an electric skillet on our boat. The issue with it is the size. The one we use is small (about 7"), and Joan says it is easier to clean in the sink than a full size skillet. Nice to be able to do "one pan" meals with the skillet when you have shore power. We have also used a "GT Express" electric grill to make omelets, small cakes, grilled sandwiches, etc. Small appliances like that work best for storage and clean-up.

I have 4 items I like to use when "cooking" on the boat. I bring different items depending on how long I plan to travel on that trip, how many we will be feeding, and, if I have done any pre-cooking at home and going to do warm ups or a mix there of. Life is too short to be hungry on the boat.

2-Hamilton Beach stay or go crock pot
3-Cuisinart Griddler panini press
4-Ronco Compact Rotisserie & BBQ Oven
5-Commercial Grade Oster Blender
OK....the blender does not cook but has proven priceless on many trips....getting ready to cook or a nice sun set.

I have a 2000 watt inverter/100 amp charger on the boat and love it as I do not have to have/use shore power or a gen set, unless I just want to.
The blender is a bit loud so be sure you have enough for the boats around you prior to making the first batch.

Here's what Tivo uses on his 16.
Not sure of the brand but it's at least a combo coffee maker, convenction oven, and maybe lots of other things too. May even plays music? :roll:

Now that is a sharp looking gizmo. I like the electric eye on top rather than the coated cooking area. Take this puppy out in the cockpit in the mornings and enjoy fresh bread, a good omelet and fresh coffee.... Cool.
I think I have a place in mind for this.....to go with a new cool light I found and installed.

When I'm on shore power I have a two-burner hot plate from Walmart, a small electric coffee maker, also from Walmart, a Black-and-Decker toaster oven, a microwave, and most recently I added a Nuwave convection oven, which in terms of savory cooking, is the best item of all. I don't use it every time because it's a bit of a chore to clean, but boy does it do a great job with baked chicken, with crispy skin and juicy insides.

Yea, I was kindo doing the coffee pot is so wide...and it is about 4 to 5 pots wide gig....then I thought, now, just how much fore/aft did that little shelf have on my CD16....... but, I felt best to sleep on it and go shopping in the morning..... and ruff it and enjoy the ice cream tonight without the chocolate. Aint America Great!!!!
