I have a 2005 EZ Loader that I purchased from the factory with my CD-22. The lights were acting weird on it, so I had it checked out today. Looks like I need to replace both Rear brake lights. Hard to believe they are both shot only after 6 months. Does anyone know how to get the same lights or who manufactures the ones that come on the EZ Loader. Easy loader is gone for the day and I would like to get started on my search for lights tonight. Thanks,

Not surprising to me that the lights are out -- I think I replaced them three times (on a LoadRite trailer) before I gave up and made a light bar out of PVC pipe and a light kit. I just attach it to the stern of the boat when I've traveling and take it off and throw it in the van when I launch.
 
I broke a light on my EZ Loader a few months ago. I just called a business that deals with trailers (all kinds) and they had one on the shelf. So, if that is any indication, it shouldn't be too hard to find one by shopping in the Yellow Pages. Robbi
 
The only time I've ever had problems with lights on my EZ loader was because the first time I launched the 16' and parked the trailer, some jerk wiped out my trailer light in the parking lot causing water intrusion into the light assembly on future launches. I nursed it along for several months constantly having to replace bulbs in that one light until I replaced the whole light assembly. I located the exact same replacement assembly at West Marine (if my memory serves me right). After that never a problem.
With the new King Trailer under our 22', I've had no problems. One thing I ALWAYS do is disconnect the electrical to the trailer prior to backing into the water so the lights don't come on when I step on the brakes. (Therefore the lights are always cool and have less chance of "blowing" if any cold water contacts them).
It's worked for me!
 
Replace them with LED's. They are sealed and last a long long time. Unless you smash them, of course.

Locate MCT Trailers in Ventura. Two locations- They are at 5892 Valentine, and 1580 North Olive St Ventura

I had to replace the lights on my trailer, too. MCT has all you need for your trailer.

I bought a 2005 EZloader trailer in May. To date both sealed LED tail lights assemblies have been replaced. The first one was after about six launches when I noticed water inside. I removed it and found no obvious entry point and the water did not seem to drain out. The dealer told me that when the lights were installed on assembly, the nuts on the embedded mounting bolts were overtightened stressing the plastic housing causing hairline cracks when under tension of the nut - result water entry. Time will tell if this theory holds water - so to speak. They, rightly so, immediately gave me replacement assemblies. Makes me nervous about EZloader trailers - what's next, the oilbath hub assemblies??

Sailor-d.....you said water in your LED's...... I'm considering replacing my trailor lights with LED's. My understanding that the whole light fixture is one "sealed & solid" block..... what's the story
 
I wouldn't be too hard on EZLoader. I purchase high-end LED assemblies and one leaked right off the shelf while the other has held up fine. Sounds like a quality control problem of the LED manufacturer.
 
I agree with Micheal. It is not nessessarily the trailer manufacture, but the lights. These lights are made for open weather and wet conditions, whether they are the LEDs or not, sometimes they leak. I have a TrailRite Trailer and I still had to replace mine after a few launches.

Part of owning the toys, is the maintainance there of.
 
We have an EZ Loader -- one rear light replaced in numerous launches, fresh and salt, over five years. Yep -- part of the game.

Yes, the "sealed and solid" block.... That is why I was a bit shocked to find it with about a quarter of an inch of water in the bottom. The Achilles heel appears to be the mounting bolts on the "block". EZ Loader sez:

“plus you'll never have to change another light bulb thanks to EZ Loader's safer and brighter LED lights”. Sealed circuit LED technology is fully submersible, has better visibility and can be seen from a greater distance and the safety advantages are significant.

Some of this you cannot argue - I am pleased that the trailer is under warranty - the so called "sealed circuit technology" looks a bit expensive if I were to buy the replacement from EZ Loader.

I just got off the phone with EZ Loader. They are having their light supplier (innovative) send me two new tailights. It was pretty easy, basically no questions asked. Thanks for all you replies.

After poking around the net it appears this is a common weakness in the Seasense LEDs. It seems that tightening the nuts creates fine cracks in the housing. A possible solution suggested was the addition of rubber washers. I still haven't installed mine yet. Uncertain if I will. Pondering. I also was experiencing trouble with the LED's on my new EZloader trailer. One rear and one side went out. I called EZ loader and the guy told me you shouldn't have to replace them for a long , long time, unless you hit something. They are sending me replacements under warranty as well. So just give them a buzz. They know it's a problem.

After all the LED horror stories I thought I'd pre-test my new pair before I install them.

you don't have enough toxic waste floating around in that cup to accurately simulate our metro area waters. :)
 
And don't forget to 1.)back into them and run them over with another trailer, and 2) have the other boater's dog pee on them to test their real chemical resistance.
