Factory status update

I went to the factory today to learn how things are going. There was a tomcat ready to ship later this month, a 22 and a 16 in late stage production and another 22 still in the mould. I was assured that both lines , C-Dory and SeaSport will be built and that they have orders for C-Dorys in the queue. So, good news.
 
I'm certainly glad the Triton has weathered the storm, and pleased they did it with C-Dory.

You know, this is one of the few forums that has support for the builder of their boat. After all, we all have our C-Dory, and most of the discussions about buying one are based on used boats. However, we all care about the guy that's keeping C-Dory alive. That's some testament as to our feelings for the boat, their owners, AND their builders.

I guess we all picked the right boat.

Good news, indeed. Thanks for the update. Some of us are going to boat - the C-Dorys look even better than most other boats, especially considering fuel prices and the economy. Hopefully, they have found a good balance of production with the demand.
 
Yes, factory orders are good news. In my industry, rental real estate we have been seeing a pickup in demand beginning about 17 months ago. Each month the demand gets stronger and there is a visible improvment in the attitudes of our prospects.

So, on a personal level I feel good and feel that our economy is moving in the right direction. It is good to see the confidence coming back.
 
You know these are truly exceptional boats. We were out over the Easter weekend for 3 nights aboard and 4 full days. We covered perhaps 40 miles. A lot of time was anchored and exploring Most of it at 6 to 8 knots just looking around. And an 8 mile open stretch at 24 knots and my fuel burn for 4 days of really nice cruising was at the most 6 or7 gallons. There was very few cruising boats out, just small like us sport boats prawning. At the end of the day those guys could not make meals and stay aboard. We did. We were in Thetis Island and this guy on a Grady 24 came in and took on $355.00 for fuel and he started out full a couple days prior. That type of boat does not do well slowed down. We had a wonderful time and didn't break the bank. Hope Triton builds lots more :thup :thup George
 
Thanks for the post Barry, that is indeed good news and on Friday the 13th no less! Wish the factory would chime in here more but hopefully they are building boats and don't have time to! :lol:

:) :) reading post in a snow storm in northern alberta. i am dreaming of my new 22 angler that is on order.ordered from dave at port boat house at port albernie on vancouver island. glad i can help your economy.

I have so much respect for anybody crazy enough to operate a business in the current political and economic climate. I tried it for three years 3 decades ago when things were much friendlier to small business. After 3 years, I had to get a job to pay for my needs because after I wrote all of the tax checks, and payroll, there was nothing left over. I bailed at the end and considered myself a success because I didn't go bankrupt, and I didn't make any money on the sale of my business.

Cudos particularly to businesses doing very low volume in a customized and tiny niche market like CD. It must be a labor of love, or a rich mans hobby, because I'm sure there is little profit in it.

Hope the factory continues to defy all the odds.
