Does any body out there have a favorite book for a new person to Ham Radio to study for the test?

Hi Jody,
There are several sources for study material, one is The Amateur RAdio Relay League. You can see some of their offerings at
http://www.arrl.org/catalog/index.php3?category=Help+for+Beginners
Their website has a lot of resources and info, e.g. you can look there to see if there is a club in your area and if they have licensing classes. It is possible to study on your own, but much easier with someone to guide you and answer questions, etc. The ARRL has a mentoring process setup to help in that way, or they have on-line courses (which I think are a bit pricey).
Our club has periodic classes, as do many. We are located in an area with a lot of cruising boaters, and for the past few years they have been a large proportion of the students. A Saturday or 2 will take you all thru the process including taking the exam.

Thank you for the Info.

Jody,

I don't know how I stumbled onto it, but the book I used was "Ride the Airwaves with ALPHA & ZULU" - this is an entertaining little book that actually prepares you very well when you are done. Here is the link to amazon.com. This book, plus taking the practice test at qrz.com until I was consistently getting them all right, was how I got my license. I loaned my copy to somebody and never got it back, or I would have been happy to mail it to you...
