Finally Made it to Sucia

Been wanting to go for a couple years, finally had the means to make it happen. We launched out of WA Park on Friday and spent the day exploring Fossil, Shallow, and Echo. The place was packed, as we expected, and we did not like the linear mooring system at all, so we went with anchorage in Fossil bay. Caught an amazing sunset too!

Spent Saturday at West Beach, walked the 3 miles into East Sound for the farmers market and had drinks with strangers who recommended Rosario... I hard heard of Rosario but did not know what we were missing.

So Sunday morning we left West Beach, had breakfast at Jones Island, then spent the rest of the day poolside at Rosario.

Came home today, but made a brief stop at Blakely Island Marina for coffee and breakfast :)

Fun little 4 day jaunt through the islands.

Oh... and I had forgotten about the tidal dependency of WA Park... we arrived and realized the tide was far too low to retrieve... so instead of waiting for 4 hours, we motored over to Cap Sante. for $14 Merts Taxi took me back to WA Park to grab my rig while Christina packed up the boat and got it ready for sling retrieval. that was our first time on the sling and I gotta say, I'm sold!

Thanks for posting Dustin.

Glad you made it to Sucia and other points in the San Juans.

Take care,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah on C-Renity

Great trip report! Next time you come this way, check out the anchorages on Stuart Island (and take a hike); visit Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor on San Juan Island; bring your passport and go to Poet's Cove in Bedwell Harbour on South Pender Island, BC - another nice pool and hot tub. Then, off to other destinations in the Canadian Gulf Islands.

You can explore here endlessly!

Best wishes,
Jim

Friday Harbor was actually on our to do list, I have been there a number of times and its definitely a favorite stop! BUT, while in East Sound a couple we met persuaded us we needed to see Rosario... So sunday after breakfast at Jones Island we decided to skip Stuart and FH this time and opted for the barside pool service at Rosario, lol.

next year we will definitely hit the other locations and just extend the trip a bit. :beer

I think always ending with a day at Rosario is a smart move though.. that pool....

I sure wasn't implying that a trip to the San Juans isn't complete without those other places... any time spent here is a delight! Just offering some other places for your next visit. Each island, marina, and anchorage has a unique character. I'm all for an adult beverage while relaxing by the pool (something you can't get a most marinas around here).

The San Juans tend to make most people want to come back. 8) Having your own boat is the magic carpet that opens up the many options.

Very nice report. Sucia is our favorite, so far, destination. We always visit Friday Harbor, too. Deer Harbor is really nice, probably anchor next time and dinghy in. Stuart Island is another one, oh man, there is so much out there plus the Canadian Gulf Islands, too!

Gonna be a whole lot more comfortable on our "new to us" 25 Cruiser!

We love Rosario as well, been there twice this summer already, great for kids.
I would also recommend Otter Bay on North Pender island. Awesome place, with a nice couple of pools.
