Float question

How do you attach a float to an anchor to warn boaters in area. We used our 2nd anchor off the stern, and had to much rode out for the depth of water we were in yesterday when we beached our boat bow first, so our Granddaughter could go swimming. I was going to attach a line to the rode however it would only go a short way from the boat and not really mark where the anchor and rode were. Another question on this subject, if you want to go stern first to the shore what is the best approch on how to secure bow in water and back in? Thanks from a Newbe.

You could use a small fender with a light line and clip it to the anchor when you drop it. Check the sonar to see how much line to use.

Pooch, Folks in the Delta used to use a light line, probably eighth inch and attach a play toy floatie to the anchor itself. They judged the length of line by the indicated depth. It was sort of funny to see the Sharks, Ducks, Bat Men, etc bouncing over the anchors.

If you wanted, you could get one of those stretching anchol lines, set your anchor, back the boat into the beach to unload while someone holds the boat in place, then tie a second line to a rear cleat and allow the stretching bow anchor line to tighten back up, pulling your boat from the shore towards the bow anchor. Then, set the rear cleat line with another light anchor on the shore. When it is time to go, reverse the process....pull the rear cleat line rope to pull your boat back towards the shore, hold the boat in place, load the folks and the gear, last person stops holding the boat, the boat goes back towards the forward bow streatching anchor......ya pick up the anchor and go. This also helps when folks are in the area boating, which seems to be an issue....to give you space between the boat and the beach to enjoy the water. ....and...keeps your boat from bouncing on the bottom from the wake of the other vessels using the same area.

Could not find it in West Marine, but did find it for $$27.99 called Anchor Buddy Anchor line on page 63, part number 33367 in my Overton's Catalog that has just arrived. Says each one stretches from 14' to 50'.... so ya might want two of them linked together depending on how far from the beach/shore line ya want your boat.
