Formica is such neat stuff to work with, what I think I would do is.....build the thing out of marine plywood and then skin both sides with formica... I think all the 22' boats should have that conversion....it sure is nice... I wanted to do it, but Jeff at the factory showed me all the stuff that needed to be changed to do it their way...I decided against it... I think the way Mike did it is neat.... really creative...

Joe, I think it's "DECRAGUARD", not "Decaguard" although both come up in the search engine, the first comes up a lot, the other one only when someone spelled it wrong. :disgust

And if you put both into Google, only one C-Dory reference comes up for Decaguard while 161 come up for Decraguard... I rest my case...

I contacted the company. Unfortunately, there are no DECRAGUARD distributors in this part of the country. Gonna have to make a plan B
You think the CD factory might sell me some?

Hey Phil, I know you must have a Lowes or Home Despot there somewhere in MA, try them. They have plastic lumber that's the same thing.

Hey Joe,

The plastic lumber is not the same as Decraguard. Decraguard is made from a high quality 3/4" plywood. "plastic lumber" is just what it sounds like. It has its uses, but not anyway the same as Decraguard.

My bad. Didn't know that.... Had an idea it was the same from all the other info on this site...

At least I speld it rite...

My neighbor used a product on his boat called Aztec that was supposed to be a solid PVC material . As I recall it was 3/4" thick and came in various sizes. He got his at Shone Lumber in New Castle, DE. I believe they have a web page.

If it is PVC the only issue I can think of is the expansion and contraction with moderate changes in the temperature. The darn stuff was pretty much impervious to any thing that was laid on it or worse yet spilled on it. He used PVC cement to chemically weld reinforcement PVC pieces underneath his project and it made for a really solid table/cutting board/
and bench. And given it was a light weight product it seemed perfect for the boat. Butch

PS... this turned out to be a very neat thread...
