Harvey asked me to set up a poll inquiring about Friday Harbor plans. He hopes to determine the interest in keeping the current schedule in place on the chance that the situation with Covid-19 will allow it by then. Barring that, he is wanting to see if rescheduling it is something to be thinking about and planning for.

I have posted this notice/request on several threads that are Covid-19 / Salish-Sea:

Please see the poll Re: FH-CBGT 2020 and vote if you have not.

You can find it on the “Home Page”, right hand side just past half way down. You can go there directly and vote there.

Here is the link to see the results and comments:

I'm hoping to get a good cross section and good participation from the C-BRATS and get some feeling for direction.

FYI.....

I had a bit of a problem with the poll since I really wanted to check both options 2 & 4, but you can only pick one. That is, I plan on going in May if allowed; but I will also go later in the summer if the May one is not allowed.

Sandy. You are not the only one so far. I had a hard time putting it together because I had 8 questions, and learned I could only have one, so, thanks for the multiple answers here.

Since I have no idea if or when the "Stay Home - Stay Healthy" thing will end, I scheduling for later may be an issue. I will check with Chris at Port Of Friday Harbor to let him know we may be interested in a later date. Two things will affect that -- 1. Travel plans that have already been set up, and 2. The booking schedule at FH marina.

Here is what MyNorthwest reported. My gut feeling is that Inslee will make another extension. He just closed all schools until the end of the year yesterday.

APRIL 3, 2020 AT 5:23 AM

Gov. Jay Inslee on April 2, 2020.
Gov. Jay Inslee announced Thursday that he will be extending Washington state’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy initiative through May 4.

Gov. Inslee provides clarity on essential businesses

Gov. Inslee said he’s not ruling out another extension past the May 4 order.

Pat, that's my feeling as well, that the governor may well extend stay at home past May 4th. But I feel as does Tosca, that I'm in for regular scheduling and later this year if rescheduled. If you build it, I will come.

Perhaps we can schedule for August....the dates that would have been the Bellingham CBGT. Maybe the border will be open for those of us that would like to continue into BC after the gathering. At least we would have a date to look forward to. Just a thought....

I will post this on the FH-CBGT thread too:

I have emailed the Port of Friday Harbor for possible Fall or late summer dates and also for next year for the 2020+2021 FH-CBGT dates asking for our usual first weekend after Mother's Day time frame. When I talked to the front desk I got the usual "We don't start taking reservations until Jan 1". Guess we will have to wait and see."

For better or worse, it looks like we are stuck in Arizona for another month, all the appointments we had made for when we got home have been canceled. We are in for whatever gets rescheduled!

After listening to ALL of the Covid-19 related chatter, and all the closures in place, with the announced cancellations and the predicted ones, the likelihood of the FH-CBGT in May is somewhat less than slim. We have about the same number of respondents to the poll as we usually have numbers of boats to the event. SO, no official announcement yet but everyone can decide for them selves. Although, San Juan Island County is strongly inviting visitors to stay home, and stay off the islands. The parks, docks, ramps and mooring buoys are all closed. The Governor is advising to Stay Home/Stay Healthy and get down on the backside of the curve -- 14 days before things will begin to open up. WE still have that 14 days until May 1, so... we wait and see.

Stay safe, stay home and keep healthy.

Looking at the poll it is evident that there is some interest in a meeting, (CBGT) later in the summer, (19 votes) and the same number of votes are not planning to go to FH-CBGT. There is no way to tell if those votes came from PNW folk who might have come IF there was not the virus or if some of those votes might have come from folks who are from out of range, and were not planning on coming no matter what.

I have posted a thread: 2020 FRIDAY Harbor CBGT, move to Sept 2020

that is offering a later date, set mostly by the Port of Friday Harbor marina, that could bring the C-BRATS back to San Juan Island this fall, if there is enough interest. Take a look at it:

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=28366&highlight=

and offer your thoughts there. I will need to respond to FH marina folk on April 27, so I will be looking at that that morning.

Thanks for your support and patience. For now, Stay safe, stay healthy and be thankful we live in a really great part of a really great country.
