Fuel Filter bowls

Finally got my filters and bowls from Brown's Marine. The old ones (bowls) were 4 yeard + old and didn't look good. Going to replace them today, along with the LP fuel filters inside the engine cowls.

Well, that was a bummer.... Filter elements/bowls look alike (existing ones were Honda) but the new ones, Suzuki, have a different hole in the top where it screws onto the head. Arghhhh... :cry

So, rather than put a new head on them now, I'll try to find the right Honda or equivalent parts, order new heads for the Suzi parts and keep them as spares.... Oh, well.

Used Spencer's link on the first page. Two complete elements/bowls and heads for $93 including $14 in shipping (3-7 days). Maybe next weekend?

On my most recent fuel filter change, I also had one bowl seized to the filter. After removing the bowl and filter as a unit, I squeezed the filter at its lower circumference with my huge channel locks to stop the plastic threaded lower portion from turning. Then the bowl could be persuaded to spin off the filter normally. No need to cut the filter apart.

I'm going to stick with the Racor/Honda system. I will post my two Suzuki (small) filters with bowls (new) on the parts for sale forum as soon as I figure out how much I need to get for them. Exactly the same as the Honda/Racor, except on the Suzi the hole on the top of the filter is larger. The "head" is different! Snyone need a good deal on a set of Suzuki stuff?

Went through the stuck bowl routine again today.
I ended up immersing the element-bowl assembly in ice water then putting just the bowl in hot water before they'd separate.
Thinking about pulling the damn bowl off or at least loosening it when the boat is not in use.
