I can't remember who it was that thought up the idea of putting a flat surface over the helm seat to put stuff on to ease the crowding by the sink. If someone could remember or better yet get me a picture of it I would sure appreciate it.

I think it was Roger King.....Fishtales... What he did was mount a flat board on the back of his fold down seat....it works really well.

I have my helm seat attached at the front edge with slide apart hinges. When I need more counter space I just detach the helm seat and store it on the floor under the helm. I also installed a slide out cutting board which slides out into the ailse from under the helm seat.

a couple of years back I yarded the seat out, built a drawer where the seat used to mount and had a cushion built to top it off. The cushion can be removed for more counter space plus it also serves double duty on top of a cooler when needed. I've since added a removable backrest. With this set up I now sit higher and farther back from the helm.....that stock set up was just not comfortable for me at all...when I get the flybridge built with the Lazy-boy mounted on the roof...then we'll be style'in

Good Ideas---My seat sits to high for me also--I may remove it ---It's got a locking swivel that adds about three inches to the height. Which is alot for a 29 inch inseam fellow like me.........Now to decide what to do

Here is the slide out cutting board on Daydream, courtesy of David on Anna Leigh. You never can have too much food preparation space! Can't help you if you are already sitting up too high however...
