On 12 sep 09. we left vinnings Landing Marine Center at about 0730. We headed up to the James River to see the Ghost Fleet. I had heard that my first U.S Naval ship was there. I t was the U.S.S Cape Cod (AD- 43). It was a dstroryer tender. We started with a little over 3/4 tank in starboard fuel tank. The Cheasepeake Bay was rough from the previous storms. We made about 8 knots till the James River. The I kicked it up to about 10 knots. As we got closer, the farther away they looked. We made up there and took pictures which I will post later. On the trip back . It was fun .I hit the throttle and opened it up. Made 22 knots at about 4500rpm. In the James River. In the bay . I trimmed the boat just right. Had a nice cmfortable cruise home. Checked the GPS. total trip 62NM round trip. We still had about an 1/8 tank left. I did not switch tanks. Great Gas Millage. We only used about 16 gallons. We got back to Vinnings Landing Marine Center at about 1530. :D :thup
