Well, I saw the recent posting by Tyboo Mike about the 'Boater Education Card'. So, I dug out my Coast Guard Auxilliary card from my junior high graduation folder and sent it and $10 in. Today I got my wallet sized card which says, among other stuff (Sex-M, Eyes-BRN, Hair-None), "This card must be in your possession when operating a powerboat with a motor of 15 horsepower or greater." See <www.parks.wa.gov/boating>.

Hey, I've got 500 postings! Do I get a hashmark?

According to the above site, if you were born before Jan 1, 1955 you are grandfathered and do not need a card in Washington, it notes however, that neither Canada nor Oregon accept such grandfathering. My understanding is that my USCG aux and/or USPS boater ed cards meet Canadian and Oregon requirements.

Marty - I believe you need exactly 500 to get the hashmark and with that posting, you went one over 500.

Again overqualified! I guess I'll have to settle for big green letters

Big green are OK. Medium darkgreen is already being used.

I think the Coast Guard required Marty to get a card. Something about his prior boating experience.
