Had to Pinch Myself

:P Howdy. I had to pinch myself to make sure that was a C dory in my drive way this morning. Valerie and I purchased a 2007 22 Cruiser, Twin 50's yesterday and she is so beautiful !!!!. It has been a year of searching and reading all the information from you Brats. Thank you for that. We hope to meet some of you on the Westcoast and around the Island in the coming years.

I just took a break from cleaning and sorting... what a nice post to see! Congratulations on finding the right boat. :thup You live in a spectacular area, and having that right boat puts it all within your reach. Enjoy it bunches, and hope our paths will cross this summer.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Terry and Valerie,

WOW, Congratulations. And use some ice on those pinch spots -- kind keeps the bruise from turning blue and green

You do live in a beautiful area. (I can vouch for that, I grew up in Sidney and lived in Port Alberni for a while - Try not to hold that against me, OK?.) Please come to the Friday Harbor CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) and show off the new vessel. Would love to get to meet you there.

Ask the "Nerds" for a photo album, and they will add it so you can add pictures here and show us more about your boat and your area. ("Tyboo" Mike, or Bill "DaNag" -- find a post by them and then send them a PM request. PM = button below the post -- stands for private message, e-mail like but stays in the C-Brat site.) Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard the C-Brats. Good folks. By the way, "Howdy" back. It's my favorite greeting.

(Marc will be by soon with "Aloha" which is pretty good too.

Congrats on the new to you boat! Now for the fun part, making it your own with the custom mods of your liking.
A whole new world of cruising destinations is now available to you! Good luck on all your cruising adventures! :thup

Well, if you are a "Shellback" you've already spent some serious time on the water. Now you can have lots of fun time too. Congratulations and best wishes to you both.

Thank you all very much for the welcome. Have spent the day playing in the drive way. Feel like a kid once more. Valerie is the Shellback and is actually is a Golden Shellback as she crossed Lat 00000 at Long 180 on the NOAA ship Discoverer in 1982. She is a retired Oceanographer and I am still a working sod. Looking forward to meeting some of you on hte water.

Welcome Terry and Valerie. The novelty will not wear off, I still spend lots of time just looking at mine. Are you going to trailer her or keep her in the marina? Either way, I hope you can make it to the Comox Gathering last weekend in July. Would love to meet your new baby.

Martin.

Bridma's right I also catch myself staring and dreaming of the next adventure all the time. When trailering you'll be amazed how many others stare and at fuel stops its a given that at least one person will approach you and ask about your boat.

Welcome and congratulations! Is your boat by chance "Mamalena"? We would love to see you at Friday Harbor. The festivities begin Friday May 18th and run through Sunday the 20th. Then there is the first annual Comox gathering (though Bridma is probably wondering what he's gotten himself into!) in late July. At least half the fun of a C-Dory is this site and the folks you meet at gatherings. Hope to see you.

Congrats! I'm feeling the same cheer you are, as I also purchased a 2007, with a single Merc 115 last week. We'll have to share stories on how we fix them up to our likings. I'm busy figuring out where I'll install my electronics. (This boat only had 1 VHF radio and a NAVMAN Fish 4380 on it. I've already removed the NAVMAN and added 1 more VHF and have a GPSMAP 541S on order. If anyone is interested in the NAVMAN, just make me a reasonable offer.) The VHF's are mounted at the right side under the little shelf above the front window. Now I just need to figure out where to mount the new GPS, a new surface mount compass and an older SL72+ Pathfinder radar. Which boat did you end up with? I got the Midnight Flyer that was in Omaha. Congratulations on your new baby. Will she be Shellback? Great waters here for power or sail. So many places, so little time. That can bug the hell out of you. Of course, your new shoal draft makes that all the more likely. :D
All the best in your new adventures.

Congratulations! This will be my fourth season on my 2008 CD22 and I still pinch myself from time to time when I see her sitting in my garage waiting to be taken out. Enjoy...it doesn't wear out.

We purchased Mamalena from Shirley who was great to deal with and even though a bit sad departing with her , new adventures await for Shirley. We will be doing a name change, not to Shellback but another one we have in mind. Just have to think a bit about superstitions and rituals before we do. Valerie really wants to go Friday Harbour in May and we would love to meet up with everyone so I think what the Admiral wants the Admiral gets.

Welcome aboard. Great boat. We look forward to meeting you at Friday Harbour. It's nice to see some more c dorys in Canuck waters. Best wishes. George
