Happy New year 2018

Hi Brats, and Happy New Year for all in 2018. Best wishes for a safe and happy boating year, and hopefully a chance to enjoy a special place and / or time on your boat this year.

For me, I think that would be at Port Harvey for Canada Day this year. Canada’s 151 Birthday.

From the Thisaway/Thataway crew, we wish all of the c Brats a healthy and Happy New Year. Looking forward to at the very least the Hontoon gathering, and hope that hurricanes don't stop our Mississippi River/Tennessee River trips.

(Miss Angel is under the bed--fireworks!)

From a rest stop somewhere in the middle of Oregon - Happy New Year from the Da Nags.

And, while we're not quite there yet on the West Coast - things got off to a good start for 2018. Less than an hour ago, a fella pulled in to the rest stop here with a new to him, 22 Angler - bought up in WA, headed south. We exchanged a few pleasantries, he's aware we exist and said he'd be signing up. He's towing his new prized possession home to Crescent City.

Well, Things are looking up for him, for sure. Da Nag, if you are out there in the middle, you all better be bundled up and travel safe.

Looking through my seldom used liquor cabinet for a special drink to bring in the new year I took out an unopened bottle of 1971 whisky. To my surprise there was little left. It had been in a box lying on its side. The cork had deteriated over the years and it had slowly leaked out until all that was left was a small amount that did not touch the cork. I am looking forward though to this 1 drink per day(that my doc allows me). Can't get much better than a 47 year old Canadian sipping whisky. 1971 was a good year but perhaps not so good for cork !! It was also perhaps the longest year of my young life as it meant I had another 365 days to go until my 16th birthday and the drivers license that would forever change the world as I saw it. HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIENDS. p.s. don't mix the drinking and driving thing

p.s. pic added in my album. For some reason firefox says I have quantum now and the bbxtra code is not compatable ???? Don't know how that happened but couldn't add pic here.

Rob, I hope you enjoyed the whiskey. I have a bottle of 1962 Crown Royal (1 year younger than me), still in the purple bag, unopened and full. I'm saving it for when I retire fully in a few years. 60 year old Canadian Whiskey should taste pretty fine. I hope to enjoy some of this on my C-Dory, anchored in some beautiful bay.

Rob, I'll try to put it here.

Not into the ETOH , BUT for those who do, do it responsibly.
And celebrating retirement is a very worthwhile goal. Enjoy.
