Hello C-Brats!

Cast Away

New member
I have been visiting this amazing forum for a number of months and recently have become a member. The C-Dory modifications and C-Brat travels are truly inspiring! My wife and I began our C-Dory search in the fall of 2006. After taking a ride on a very nice CD22 in the rain (perfect weather for the NW!), we were hooked. Next,a visit to the C-Dory factory where we were able to view the entire construction process. Very special that C-Dory is made locally in the NW. A couple days later, we headed to EQ Marine where we met the owners Les and Kathy. It was fun and incredibly informative talking C-Dory's. They are terrific folks. Before we had left we had fallen for a Blue CD22! We took delivery of "Cast Away' in January and have made some excursions into the San Juans ....wahooo!

Looking forward to seeing you all on the water,

Jim

Cast Away-

Welcome aboard!

Sounds like another classic case of C-Dory-itis infectious addiction!

Congradulations on the new boat! Love the name!

I'll be hoping to meet you next January at the Seattle
Boat Show and C-Brat Get-Together.

Joe.

Cast Away,
Congrats on a very handsome new C-Dory. :cigar The E-Tec 115 compliments the boat nicely. Excellent photos. Of course, IMHO, any old motor looks good on a C-Dory :D You're in for a great summer with Cast Away, Jim. Have fun :thup

To the crew of Cast Away,
As fellow newbies, may we be so bold as to welcome you also to the C-brat World. We saw your boat being rigged at EQ last fall. A pretty baby you've got !! Les should be finished with our boat in a week or two. We're excited !!
Hope you are able to make some of the gatherings in the PNW this summer. We'll have our eye out for Cast Away. Love the name.

Cast Away & B&B Burks -

Welcome to the family! Boy, fresh meat to pick on! HA.

PR for Tidewater area....
Glad to have y'all aboard. If y'all get the the Lower Ches. Bay, on the RIGHT Coast, you will have to give us a ding-a-ling. There are a lot of great places to explore here, now that the Queen of England will be about to acknowledge us again around the first weekend of May.

We have abt 25 tall ships due in here on the first weekend :smiled of June, beginning on Fri. AM on 8 June with a parade of sails. Unfortunately this is also during the Ches. Bay Gathering. Combine that with our 400th year celebration.. :cake .. what a 'blow-out' is expected.

To the crew of Cast Away, Nice to have you aboard. I look forward to meeting you and checking out your new boat. The chicken farmer  in Marblemount keeps me up to date on your activities. I don't think that I will make it to Lopez with C-Run, but I just may show up.

Robbi

Jim,

Welcome aboard!! You will find this to be a very friendly place to gain and share experiences. Hope you enjoy your new boat with family and friends for years to come.

Had to see where Coolin, Idaho is and when I looked at Google maps I was like...Hmm...perhaps a C-Dory gathering in your neck of the woods??? We pass underneath on I-90 when heading to the Helena/Bozeman/Miles City area to visit with family. Hope to visit your area some day.

Safe Boating to you!

John :smiled

Thanks for the warm welcome. Its the camradarie here which make this place so enjoyable! :D

Wholeheartedly agree with:

IMHO, any old motor looks good on a C-Dory
There were lots of good power choices. Lots of good info on this site! One of the many threads I used to determine twins vs single was:
Help on 22 Cruiser Motor Selection

After determining that a Main/Kicker would meet our cruising/fishing needs I used the following criteria:
  • 1. Main should be as light as possible while satisfying other criteria.
    2. Main must integrate well with NMEA 2000 protocol, providing digital engine data to a NMEA 2000 compatible marine network.
    3. Main alternator to provide sufficient charging capabilities.
    4. Main must be available to dealer doing rigging.
The E-115 was the motor which met my criteria. We run the motor conservatively (we're not go-fasters) and enjoy the views!

Cast Away is currently at Twin Bridges Marina, (we were fortunate to get a spot there) I really wanted to cruise on the westside before trailering the boat to Priest Lake. Coolin is located in the Idaho panhandle, at the southern end of Priest Lake. We are building a cabin there ourselves and are making good progress! Definitely has potential for a future CBGT!

We plan to attend several of the upcoming CBGT's, the first being Lopez. .... took a run over to Fisherman's Bay a while back and that is a tricky entrance channel!

Our best to you all!

Jim and Jan
