help with fresh water system

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The fresh water pump is giving me a headache. The original Jabsco pump worked for many years. Had to replace it about 4 years ago with a Jabsco 82400-0292 pump.

Worked fine for a few years then it quit working. I thought possible clog in faucet supply but, shower or head would not activate the pump. After it sit for a few days it worked for about 30 seconds then stopped and would not activate the pump. I disconnected the outflow, attached a long hose to it and put it in the sink. Turned the switch on and pumped water into sink. I assumed it was probably one of the feed lines, I attached the hose that was in the sink to the cold water supply to the faucet it ran ok for about a minute. Then the pump worked for a short tie and quit. So I took the supply line from the pump off the faucet supply and put it back into the sink. Turned the power back on and it did not activate.
I assume it is probably the pressure switch. Does anyone have any idea of other items that might be the problem.

I would be looking at the pressure switch as my first thought. You can bypass it, by either exposing the wire and jumping, or cutting and trying a direct feed, and it is bad, you have already made the cut--if not, you can put a butt connector in, or junk the old pump. I always carry a spare pump, with quick disconnect fittings and put in spade or round quick connectors.

It seems that the Jabsco pumps always failed when Marie was in the shower on our larger boats. So I had to have a quick remedy!

OK..
Thanks for the responses. The rebuild kit costs as much as a new pump. However, I went back out to the boat last night I did not hook up the supply line to anything and ran water into the sink with no problems. I will hook up to the shower sprayer today to see if it will work with a load on it. If it works good I'll start working on the faucet. Will let you know how this works. Either way I will get a spare since this one was purchased in Hoonah at a premium cost.

Well I hooked it up directly to the shower sprayer. It worked for a second then quit. Ordered new pump and will be here Friday. Now I'll have a spare motor just in case.

Thanks again
