After years of lurking, I have finally registered as a C Brat! Why? Well, you all know, but here goes...After much discussion, mostly on my part, my wife and I have finally committed to get serious about buying our "last" boat, a 22 cruiser.

There was a great post awhile back, something about the 12 Steps to Becoming a C Dory Owner. I laughed and laughed and then gave it to my wife and she finally started to get where I have been over the past couple of years.

We now own a great 17 Arima Sea Chaser that is 25 years old and takes me fishing where we are often the smallest vessel out there, but with trim tabs and a steady throttle I can get out there! Notice, I say, "I." My wife likes to go, too, but it is not all that comfortable of a boat for the day and certainly never overnight.

I know, many of you are nodding your heads, yup, sure sounds like us...

So, here we go, on the search for a nice, used, well kept 22 Cruiser. I know, I have lost out on a couple recently on the West Coast, but know our special boat will come our way. I wonder about those 2 boats in New Jersey, wonder if they are up for offers? :roll:

Of course, any help from all of you would be appreciated, too. So with that, the adventure offically begins!
 
ALL boats these days are "up for offers". Just don't insult the seller with a ridiculous low ball offer. That would be an insult and not make you any friends!

BTW, saw recently a boat named "LAST BOAT III" !! :roll:

You might want to try Jaxed.com....there are quite a few west coast C Dorys listed there, but my first preference as a buyer would be to buy from a member here. You could likely get a good history just by reading the seller's past posts.
 
Welcome! I finally get to say "I was just like you..." :wink: There are quite a few Brats up in the Sno County, Skagit County etc area. The main points to get my wife into it were the boat had to be DRY & WARM. Both easily attainable with a C-Dory. Make sure your wife knows this. :lol:

Welcome to the brats, and good luck on getting your boat. There are some out there, so it should not be too long before you're on the water.

If there is a boat you are interested in, make a reasonable offer and you just might be the proud new owner. I recommend that you join in on a couple of CBGTs to learn about all the interesting improvements that people have done to their boats. There is a wealth of knowledge in this group, not to mention significant ability.

I looked at the site, and I see no connection whatever to C-Dories, or to any other boats, for that matter. The entire site seems a little bit 'out there' to me. What am I missing?

Yes, that is precisely why we are getting a C Dory. I took my wife to the Seattle Boat Show and we went on all the boats we thought we would like. She liked the roominess of the C Dory and the fact it has a hard top and closing door. We even got lucky and went on a ride together on a 22 when Master Marine did that in Anacortes and that really impressed her.

I am going to see if we can day trip with my friend, Jim, who has Work Release. Fishing on that boat was really fun for me and if you have seen it, you know it's set up.

Cool site, snal, there are a few out there all right. That one in Florida looks good, but it really needs a 90 for times when I take 3 with me fishing and all the gear.

(You could almost call it a "mini" C-Brat Get Together.... :lol: )

So, even though we are not real real close, we are closer than the Sacramento delta or Chesapeake bay, and it is too late for the Naniamo CBGT, come on over to Sequim. We are traditionally the last one (CBGT or C Brat Get Together here in the PNW. No boat, no problem. Go up to the top of the page and click on "Event Signups" go to the "information" button and read all about it. Then go back to sign up, and come on over.

Sept 11 - 13 at the Sequim Bay State Park dock. You are welcome to join in all the festivities, and we can get you a boat ride and tour I'm sure.

Have no idea if it will still be available but there has been a nice 22 cruiser for sale in Port Townsend. You could take one home with you :wink

Hardee, the Sequim Bay CBGT sounds like fun. Looks like you are really enjoying your 22 from all the pictures in album. Thanks for the offer. Probably meeting up with DaveS and wife with Sea Shift soon to talk about all things C Dory!
 
Dave is a good guy, and can not only show you his nice 22 he has plenty of experience with a 16. He can not only help you with the decision he can help you with christening, and I'm sure he would not steer you wrong.
