¡Hola! from Isla Mujeres

Hey, guys -- greetings from Isla Mujeres, Mexico (relatively unspoiled island off the coast of Cancun -- this is our 4th year here for Carnival). We arrived yesterday, at the tail end of 4 days of hard rain that left lots of standing water on the streets of Cancun (and some flooded-out sewage.) The sun is out today and all is well. The only thing that would make it better would be to have the Lori Ann here.

Wehad sailed there three times from both Calif. and Florida--probably spent over a month total. There is a biannual race from Pensacola alternating from Petersburg FL. I suspect it is becomming more developed each year. We first were there in 1983 and there have been huge changes in the years. I wondered how it did with the storms in the last years?

Most of the hurricane damage of last year was confined to Cancun itself, since it shelters Isla Mujeres to some extent. When we were there last Feb we saw many buildings with windows blown out, trees down, etc. This time on the shuttle ride to Puerto Juarez other than the flooded streets from the current rain it was back to normal, as far as I could see. Lots of people here for President´s Day and Carnival. Isla itself looks much the same as it did the first time we came here 4 years ago.
