cut a piece of plactic or plywood in to a 12 in circle. cut a hole in the middle for a rope and a slot from the hole to the out side edge. now after you set a line to the beach just slide the rat stopper 1000 over your line. It helps if you have some sort of rubber flap overing the slot. I have seen these used before and the seem to do the trick.

Joel,

We have boated at Lake Powell for about 30 years now and have never had any Rat or Mouse problem onboard. If you leave things on shore over night the rodents may get into them however. Put food items in Tupperware type containers if left onshore overnight. Haven't really had any problems with rodents in tents either. Can't vouch for the southern end of the lake, but no problem in the northern end.

Looking forward to seeing you again. We will arrive on PM of the 19th or early on the 20th.

the only rat we saw there last week was the drunk in the Driftwood bar. M did mention the rat possibilty one evening and El & Bill's ratdventures where discussed.

If you would like to read the tale of the mouse residing on the shores of Lake Powell, check out:

Rana Verde uses a plastic frisbee, slit to the center -- he slides it onto a shore 'anchor' line and that seems to discourage Ratus powelli.

We have often had mice 'aboard' at Powell -- maybe it's all that good cheese we tote along. Now, we just anchor offshore and wade into land -- but last time, one enterprising aquatic friend swam to the anchor line and came aboard for another visit.

After my Gator encounter I am leery about wading anywhere in Foreign waters..... I must look like I taste like chicken....

Joel, all you need to do is use two Frisbees - one on each leg. Maybe three if the water is deeper.

If the rats are large enough to play frizbee, are you sure you want to baot there at all?

Sorry I asked

But you did ask and here is how we do in SW Florida.

Run your dock lines through these funnels and they come in nice to avoid spills on the boat too.

I suggest you point the pointy end toward the boat for them to work.

How do you make a rat guard

The first trick is to train one to stand at attention. Then you must find a very small uniform...........

Oh, THAT kind of rat guard.
