Hull Extension

I have said I was going to extend the hull on my 16’ Cruiser since Beer Thirty did his 22 last year. After the Seattle Ship Canal CBGT, I will pull everything off my boat and begin. Tomorrow the 22nd I am going to meet a couple of people that have extensive fiberglass experience and probably have them do the glass work. I have no doubt, they will do a job equal to or better than the factory.

Is there anything I should be aware of before I start?

I can fill in more details tomorrow after our meeting, but is there something you people feel I should be asking them? Especially those of you that have boat building experience.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Sorry about that. It will be 24". I will also add two 15-gallon saddle tanks in behind the cabin.
The line drawings show the 16" cruiser and My boat after the 24" has been added.

I like the 26-footer idea. That would be a n-i-c-e boat. For all the trouble of a 2-foot extension, the cost of a little more fiberglass and balsa shouldn't be too much extra...

Sounds like a fun project, Dave.

Hey I kinda like the look of da 10' strech.... but I think the 2' extension will be what a 16' boat needs...they seem kinda tight, and those fuel tanks will ride well midships...
Actually what I am waiting for is to see someone do a inboard diesel conversion with a 25' cruiser. Some of the turbo diesels get super fuel milage, and I just love the Yanmar 30hp. diesel on my tug...slow but strong...and only burns a quart an hour at cruise. (8 knots)

When you go with a 10 ft stretch it starts to look like a C-anoe!
