Sheesh - only 484 posts to read through this morning. You folks have been slacking.

Just got back from vacation, and other than a little keyboard time doing PC support at the C-Lou's, I haven't been on a computer for 10 days. Other than the fun I have with you folks here, I can't say that I missed it...can't remember the last time I went unplugged for so long, and it was pretty refreshing. TyBoo had my cell number in case any nerd emergencies cropped up, but thankfully it remained quiet.

Just woke up a couple hours ago, had a hell-ish day of driving yesterday. Left Port Angeles at 9:00AM, drove to C-Dory to drop of Da Nag for tank upgrades, then drove straight home - 17 hours more or less in the car.

Crazy vacation...met my brother, his family and my parents in Port Angeles, and hung out on the property for a few days to start. We got a driveway and parking area in, and the utilities were installed a month or so ago (except septic.) With the beat up RV on the property (a story for another time), we now have a nice camping spot to hang out at.

Went fishing a couple days, nothing but pinks yet around PA, of which we caught none. Fortunately, my PA buddy caught a few, and smoked them up...burp.

After the family left, we spent the remaining days goofing off, and getting some work done. Actually, I got a lot of work done on the property, but it just doesn't seem like work when it involves playing on the tractor. We hit up the Clallam County Fair with the C-Lou's - haven't been to one since I was a kid, jumping frogs at Calaveras County. Saw a draft horse pulling competition...those animals are amazing. Winning teams pulled more than twice their combined weight - around 8K pounds!

Looks like we're finally going to get underway with the barn building...grading for the building site starts next week. We had to shrink the building from the original plans, it's now 32x40 instead of 36x60. All that income I had envisioned from C-Brat memberships never materialized, so we had to cut corners.

Elevations and floorplans are attached here...Dana's brother-in-law is a pretty talented designer, who worked up a set of plans for us, which we forwarded to a local engineer for the structural stuff. We made sure everything including the engineering was copyright free - if anyone is interested in a full set of plans in AutoCAD format, just let me know and I'll be glad to forward them - might save somebody some bucks if you have a similar project in mind.

Plans are to get the thing built by a local contractor, keeping the upstairs loft open for storage initially. Da Nag will be living there, so WA tags are in order for next year. We've got a set of floorplans for the upstairs just about finalized, I'll be turning it into a 2BR/2 bath apartment as time and funds permit.

Who knows...maybe next year, I'll be back to attending all the WA gigs again. Sure have missed them this year, but Sequim is looking like a go - hope to see you all there.

Well, alrighty then! Sounds like things are coming along fine in PA, hope to see you in Sequim (I assume Desolation is not on your agenda this year, that would be quite a bit of vacation, but who knows?)

Yipee, Da Nerd's back! :lips We so missed you.

Still, things were kept well in order during your absence, as Tyboo and I teamed to police postings and develop a Brat Constitution.
