Congrats Neighbour...........anybody who names a great boat after a hockey shot must have some good genes........eh?

We are planning on doing the Carolina Loop with the C-brats this May.
Maybe we can rendevous at Oriental........and then together we can head to Coinjock.......onto the VA border.......come back through the swamp with the C-Brats.

We will head back to New Bern directly from Elizabeth City.

Congrats, We hope you enjoy your boat, We are also planning the Carolina Loop and want to get to Southport sometime later this summer. Hope we get a chance to meet along the way.

Congrats on your new boat , you'll love it. We'll definitely be sharing some of the same passages as we're just down the icw in N Myrtle , currently docked @ Anchor Marina but will soon be closing on our boats new home @ Doc Holidays. We're up your way several times during the summer maybe we can catch up with you.

My Dad bought our C Dory in April, 1987 when he retired and I went with him up to the factory to pick her up. I bought her from him when I retired in 2006. From 1987 to 2006 I spent countless hours with him on the boat fishing, Crabbing, Shrimping and I enjoyed every minute but I will never forget the special feeling my wife and I had the first time we put her in the water after we had bought her and she really belonged to us. We are wishing you a great first cruise.

Congratulations. I often cruise down to Southport - nice marina and nice town. I generally take the ditch. I live in Beaufort. Stay in touch, it's a ncie cruise up/down the ditch - we can hook up for some eats/drinks and/or or whatever.

The first shake down cruise was nice, a bit short due to our daughter's schedule, but nice. How does one deal with the front fender when underway? Back ones are easy. I imagine I could pull it up from the window, but where do you put it, since there is just no room there? I've searched a bit and didn't really find a solution (at least one that I could adapt). I hate leaving it dragging in the water (just not done)

We pull it in through the window and take it back to the cockpit and stow it there.

Most people do as Warren describes - pull it in through the window and store it in the cockpit. I used to do that on my 22 but I never liked it - you always get a few drips of saltwater in the cabin. Eventually I settled on a system where I hung the forward fenders from the hand rails and had a 1/8 cord trailing from the bottom of the fender which terminated in the cockpit. This cord was long enough that I could tie it off to the hand holds in the cockpit and the fender still had enough slack to hang straight when deployed. When underway, I would flip the fenders onto the roof and they would rest between the handrail and the raised portion of the roof top. Then I would tie of the trailing portion to hold them tight in this position. This system (while perhaps not super tidy or "yachty") worked fine and allowed me to easily deploy and retrieve the fenders single handed.

Somewhere in the photo albums there is also a system where the fenders are attached to the cabin side and have a line exiting the bottom of the fender. Pull the line up from the cockpit and cleat it off with the fender on the walk ledge.
