Key West Cruise

Our first adventure away from our local cruise area here in Amelia Island, florida will be down in the Keys. My wife and I, along with my buddy Mark will haul our new to us c-25 (Fan-C-Dory) down to Key West around the 1st week of April. We are looking to make a reservation at a great marina in Key West and do some day tripping over our week long stay. Mark would need to find ashore lodging on or very near the marina. I read a thread from Great Adventures some time ago, mentioning a really great marina in the Key West area, however I can't find the thread. We would need lauch facilities of course and trailer storage. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I think Garrison Bight marina is economically the best and I believe you can store your truck & trailer there as well. You would be about a 20 minute walk to Duval street down town but you can rent bicycles, quite cheap, close to the marina. I am sure if you call the friendly harbor master he will answer your questions, 305-294-3093.

Hi,
About ten miles north of Key West is Geiger Key Marina which is accessed from the Hawk Channel(ocean side). It is both an RV park and a marina with a bar/restaurant. I believe they have a ramp nearby. Check them out. www.geigerkeymarina.com Garron Bight is also recommended by many. www.garrisonbightmarina.net
If you sign up for a free serice at www.activecaptain.com you can click on the interactive cruising guide zoom in on a particular area (like Google Earth) and the marinas will pop up in red, anchorages in green markers, ramps I believe are blue. Notice the small cross in the center of the screen and zoom in on your area keeping that small cross centered on your target area. The markers don't show until you have zoomed in enough zooming in further will spread the targets, cool site good people. www.marinas.com is another resource. Have fun, do a search in the c-brat site for other keys info.
