I have the C-Dory 22', Suzuki 90, Bennett Trim Tabs and the swim step on the starboard side. Talking with the factory I was told my Evenrude 2 stroke, 15hp kicker motor probably wouldn't fit between the 90 hp and the port trim tab without an outboard motor bracket. They recommended the Garelick #71091. They said it would be stout enough if I ever went to a 4 stroke. The factory also said to be sure to mount the top edge of the motor brackets (where it bolts onto the transom) 1/2" below the top of the transom.

Any other ideas about bracket manufacturer?
Any good websites to visit for prices? Twin Bridges is $394.
Any suggestions about things to watch out for in mounting the bracket?
 
Do a search on here for the drawing Tyboo made up. You could have it made at a local machine shop and know that it would handle any motor you would be likely to put on it.

Hi Guys,

I have been studying Mike's drawing for the mount. This is a compact bracket and when mounted the motor will only be about 5in from the transom. The mounting area looks to be 5in by 5in. Am I reading this correctly?

I think to mount a motor you will need a mounting board that would be just large enough for your motor. Should the mounting board be attached on the inside or outside of the bracket - (may not make a difference)?

I am also thinking that you only need 5/16 or 3/6 bolts to mount it.

I found 316 stainless sheet on MacMaster-Carr. You can get a 12 by 24in piece for about $50. I think I could cut the pattern with a hand saw and clean up the edges with a grinder. Just need to find a place that can bend it.

I have one of TyBoo's motor mounts on our boat. I printed the drawings and took them down to a local fab shop. For less than $50. they cut and bent to shape. The 5x5 plate was too narrow for the motor brackets, so I mounted a wood board that extends above the bracket. If it was wider, it would have worked out better. I would use the pattern as a starting point and modify to fit your needs. Good luck.
