Kicker motor

Depends on if you could keep it afloat long enough to hit the take-off button. The integrated hydraulic steering sounded kind of neat.

Usually in the word of performance, Lighter accompanies the words faster, stronger, more efficient.

Stuffing an automotive engine in a boat is not a new concept and while they were at, they could have found a lighter, more powerful option in that world.

Wow, they put hinge on the lid!

They do look very cool and they are color matched to your boat so I think I get the idea.

I could put one off the back of our 25 but I am not nearly cool enough.

The horsepower to weight ratio is actually pretty good for an outboard. A 150HP Honda or Yamaha weighs in around 480lbs or about 3.2lbs/HP. This engine provides 557HP at a weight of 1000lbs or 1.8lbs/HP.

A 300hp Evinrude beats that ratio with a 1:1.7x so I am still not very impressed. I am afraid outboards are not at the leading edge of propulsion development and too much of boating is driven by large pocketbooks and egos which can have a negative effect on evolution. Everytime I see a large open array radar on a coastal boat I am reminded of this tendency.

There is a reason to have open array antennas on coastal boats. The open array gives better target discrimination, and sharper images. With radar, all things being equal- bigger is better.

The fact is looks better on some boats than an 18" dome is an added benefit.

My god they are 1000lbs each!! . . .

Well, they thoughtfully include power tilt. I might have missed it, but I didn't see mention of electric start. That first pull on a cold engine is gonna be a b***h.

There is always a "reason" why we justify spending triple the necessary money on an upgraded boat gadget. Unfortunately, that reason almost never aligns with reality.

You are right about the looks. This was just pulled from a large boating forum and was not hard to find.

"Yeah, definitely go with what looks better. That is an important consideration when purchasing radar."

A reality TV show where yacht owners had to show a host how to use the electronics on the boat would be very entertaining.

That's what a hired Captain and crew is for; I'd be too busy to learn. Me and my six Victoria's Secret model girlfriends wouldn't have time for such trivial pursuits....

I was in West Coast Marine a few days ago parting with some of my hard earned money, when they started discussing this motor. Evidently each motor costs $70,000. But....wait....it comes with its own dedicated technician! If something goes wrong, they fly that tech out to fix it right away. Gee, what a different world that is. I still think about the cost of an oil change, and I do it myself.
