Kudos to Trotac Marine

In its 6th year of operation, our Wallas 85DU finally went on leave. We took it from the boat, contacted Trotac Marine and talked to Peter Lambert who was extremely helpful. We eventually decided to ship the Wallas to their shop in Victoria BC by courier. Of course, this was a long weekend. Wednesday morning, Peter called to say it had arrived with some apparent bashing en route; however, the glass top was intact. He indicated they were extraordinarily busy, and we were to call the next day at 1 pm.
At 1 pm on the Thursday, Peter said they had found the problem: the tip of the T4 sensor had burned off, and they had serviced the unit, replaced required parts, tested, and she was up and running, to be shipped that day back to Blind Bay.
Interesting findings: Trotac felt this unit had been previously serviced, and the retaining spring for the mat was under rather than over the mat, and there was some misalignment of the cans. We purchased the boat and Wallas as new in 2007, and have never had the stove out of the boat or serviced! Mystery!
It's really nice to do business with a company where you can talk to a real person and get real answers and prompt service at reasonable cost. They are: www.trotac.ca
Trotac Marine Ltd.
Victoria BC

Also interesting to know that there is an alternative to Scan Marine for service. What would be the issues in having a unit from the US shipped up there and serviced? I can see that if one was in BC cruising, it would be very handy to know of this outfit!

Thanks Bob, I printed out a copy of their Web page and will keep it in my Wallas file. I figure that when my Wallas fails, it will be as far from home as possible. :crook
