Maiden voyage - seeking advice

Hi,

We have just acquired a CD16 Cruiser and are in love with it. We have taken it out once for a test for a few hours, but never for a longer trip.
We upgraded from a small aluminum fishing boat which we used this summer for fishing Pudget sound.
Now having this nice little cabin, we would love to take it out from Everett, WA to San Juan Islands for a 3 day 2 night trip.
Being somewhat a novice saltwater boater in the PNW, I have a lot of respect for what I may not know and I am trying to prepare as much as I can.
I have mapped out the route, looked for where I can get gas, looked for anchorages, etc.
But I am still nervous about what I may not know and I would like to connect with folks who can guide us and maybe talk through our plan.

Thank in advance for anyone willing to connect :-)
Matt

Hi Matt,
Congratulations on your new boat. We do a lot of east side of Whidbey Island cruising. The Everett to San Juans trip is a lot for three days/two nights and there are a lot of nice places you'll be blasting by to make that schedule. And you'll need some flexibility for current, fog, and wind delays. You'll either go through Deception Pass or take the Swinomish Channel (which puts you in good location to cross Rosario north of Cypress Island for a shorter jump). LaConner is a nice stop, too. Here are some stops we like:
Port Susan, Kayak Point
Langley
Elger Bay, Camano Island State Park
Coupeville Wharf
Oak Harbor City Marina (for gas)
Hope and Skagit Islands
Cornet Bay (if you're going through Deception Pass)
Glad to chat on the phone for more details, I'll PM my number.

Sent ya a long message and then accidentally double posted it here with my phone number all public. Then panic deleted it. I’m a Frickin new guy….😂. Will pm ya some of my experiences with these incredible people on this forum.

Hi John,

thanks for the advice, so maybe San Juans is a little too much then for the first time overnight.
I will look at some of the destinations you recommended and see, how i can put together a shorter trip.

I`ll reach out to you later and it would be great if we can chat :-)

Thanks so much in advance!

Sure did! Two nights at Skagit, two at Hope, and one at the offshore dock at Bowman Bay. How about you?

We we’re coming off a couple weeks out in san juans so just hung tight at the dock until haul out. Hopefully back out this fall!
