Occasionally we get questions from our web site contact form and the person forgets to give us a means of contacting them with the answer. Since a large portion of our contacts come from this site, I decided to answer those questions here and hope whoever asked these questions see this post.

Questions:

1. What gauge aluminum are fuel tanks?
• One eighth inch

2. Is there room at the helm to stand and drive?
• Depends – if you stand just to the left of the captain’s chair you have 6’4” of headroom. Standing directly behind the wheel you are on a platform about five or six inches above the floor and the roof line is several inches lower than it is in the center of the cabin.

3. Are there backing plates etc. behind the cleats, bow rail, and hand rails?
• We use large SS fender washers. There is sufficient strength to pick up the boat with the cleats. I went through my photo list and could only find the following photo. This is the inside hand rail and it is bolted to the middle post of the top outside hand rail. The other two posts have large SS fender washers.

4. The boat is not self bailing?
• No – the deck is below or at the water line. We have an 1100 GPH automatic bilge pump in the bilge area under the engine well. It will come on automatically when it senses water or it can be turned on manually. It will pump out water as fast as most boats of this size will drain with scuppers.

Thanks.
