Microwave for a 1000 watt generator

Microwave?? 1000w generator?? Wow! All the luxuries of home.
 
I was wondering about the new "Inverter Microwaves" :smilep and if used on the lower settings, if they draw less wattage... been wonderin bout that :| this way you might be able to run a more standard size microwave from your tiny Yami baby 1000 :love - arrg! :idea

The 12 volt "inverter" microwaves are mostly low power. They are designed mostly for truckers and widely sold at truck plazas. They might be slightly more effecient that a 1500 watt inverter and a 1000 watt microwave, but not much. They use lots of power on 12 volts. I have opted for using a good inverter and the size microwave I wanted.
 
Just go down to Wally World and pick up a Sunbeam $37 microwave that fits right under the seat on top of the water tank. Less amps than the Ebay model. Much room left over (I also carry a grill, charcoal, and more in that space.)

It's the same one I have in my 22 and use with the Honda 1000i generator or 700 watt invereter when away from shore power.

It's imported from China and sold under a variety of brand names.

Works fine, if a little slow, but who cares if it takes 2 or 4 minutes to do the job?

Close -- mine has the rotary knob (just like the ones in a convienance store). Possibly the upgraded model there, though I'd still look for the knob model personally (I don't have to re-learn directions if I've been away from the boat).

(I'm away from the boat right now) The watts were so low it wasn't even a consideration on the Micro. Even the George Forman grill made the watt rating. What I am having trouble finding is a Fry Daddy type fryer that will come in under 1200 watts.

that I prepared using my new Quesadilla-Maker http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=226420-1225-3210&lpage=none 8oo watts. This one is pre-cooked shredded chicken with sliced mushrooms, sliced black olives, chopped green onions, cilantro, and mexican cheese topped with sour cream, salsa, and cilantro garnish. YUMMY!!! Cooking time is only 3 or 4 minutes. The neat thing is that the perishable ingrediants can be prepared at home and vaccuum sealed for each serving. Simply toss them into an ice chest 'til you need them. No muss, no fuss.
