Moth Ball Fleet sturgeon

Took the wife and 4 year old boy for a quick sturgeon trip. Launched out of Martinez Saturday at 9am and went to my new fishing hole 1 mile away. Threw out some old lamprey eel since the small stripers were tearing up our grass/piles. Turned to mess around with the kid and see a rod doubled over with line peeling!! Let the wife clear the other poles while I let my son fightl the fish on the pole. He was very excited to do that.

After a botched snare job by me and a dance around the motor we got it in. A nice 50" that we tagged and took home with us. Looks like my fishing buddy is really getting the hang of it!! Back at the dock by 12:30p.m.

Nice fish...Good job....They say if you take a youngster fishing, Take them were the fish are biting so they don't get board :wink: They will be future fisherman. :thup
 
Nice fish. I used to see a lot of oversize in that area jumping. You could hear them splashing. I always wanted to try it over there but never got around to it.
 
man, that's damn cool. All summer I've been telling folks that fishing should be required in the K-12 school system. Fishing, what better way is there to teach kids the importance of patience, work, paying attention to details and other important life skills? gotta love it...and those fish are durn tasty too
