motor mystery

My starboard Honda 40 drops RPMs and sometimes quits on hard right turns. I know, don't do that anymore. Anyhoo, I have dumped and cleaned the tanks, changed out the Honda Racor and motor mounted filters. It still runs rough for a few minutes and then smooths out 'till next time. Anyone???

The tank is nearly full of non-ethanol premium same as the other tank. I wish the fuel line on the port tank was long enough so I could switch them. I may replace fuel supply lines next and if I do I'll make them long enough to switch. The thing is, the change in RPM is instant when turning hard and I know for a fact that the motors can run a couple of minutes even with the fuel lines dissconnected.

Does throttle setting, i.e, idle vs. 4500 RPM, make a difference? Is the fuel line or wiring being pinched or are connections loosening while stretched out during the turn? Could The battery cables or terminals be damaged internally and loose power while turning?

The batterys are new this year and connections are wrench tight, spark plug were replaced this spring. I was thinking carbs or wiring too. Would draining the carbs do any good? I put Sea Foam in the tank weeks ago.

My first thought was fuel lines if it happens only in a turn. Perhaps the line is a bit short and is getting pinched (stretched) when you turn hard over? Or perhaps some kind of stretching in a turn causes a hole in the line to be exposed?

That was my first thought also, perhaps it’s pulling enough at the engine connecter to slow or stop the flow of fuel.

At idle and reving to 5,000 it is OK, above 3500 RPM under power it cuts out and sometimes quits.
