I have alluded to my problems with this dealership in other threads but I submitted my 3-page formal complaint to C-Dory today. To give you an idea of my experience:

•With 6-months lead time they were late in getting the boat rigged for sea trial.
•The salesman no-showed on the day of my 2nd sea trial (it's a 400 mile drive for me).
•The salesman promised the Suzuki Gimme 6 warranty (I have this in writing via email) then tried to back out of it due to the $150 cost. He refused to pay even after I produced the email since it was "not written in the contract". After several aggravating calls he agreed to cover the cost and honor the agreement.
•I was told repairs were made then arrive to find they were not.
•The boat was delivered without a working winch. The handle was too long and would stop against the hull; they delivered the boat 400 miles on the highway with a loose strap.
•Upon delivery I found some painted over barnacles and small bends in the flanges of my Armstrong bracket.

I'm generally an easy going guy and was very much looking forward to buying the Tomcat but the process was a nightmare at every turn. I can't remember a single instance when someone returned a call when they said they would. I had to follow up several times to get updates. The salesman did not take responsibility for the process and after several mistakes I had to get involved with every single detail to ensure they did what they were supposed to do. I will say the service manager did a great job when he personally did the work.

Based on my experience I would never return to this dealership under any circumstances. I naively thought the purchase of this boat would involve sitting in the managers office sipping champagne (or at the very least a thank you ;) I'm joking about the champagne but I truly expected a very different experience. This was/is a major purchase for me and I worked really hard to get it. I regret I did not purchase from another dealership such as Wefings or perhaps others. Marc Grove for example has been extremely helpful to me even with no particular benefit in doing so. I had positive experiences (though brief) with Y-Landing as well.

Whatever the delivery cost - it is worth it to have a boat sold and prepared by a dealership that offers better service.

Matt,

Sorry you had to go through this. We had a "somewhat" better experience with the factory being our dealer. As you are now realizing, we are on our own with our boats. I still have nagging little problems which I will take care of on my own. The factory is 2 hours away and that's a lot of diesel fuel!

Thanks for the kind words Matt , we dont always get it perfect , but try our best and we try to learn from our mistakes . Its a hard position being the representative of something you only have control over after it has been manufactured . We just do the best we can . Good luck with the boat and getting it sorted out and modified to your satisfaction .
Marc
