New 4000# trailer for CD22

I Just took delivery of a new trailer for my CD22. It is a Road Runner 4000 lb rig with dual axles and is replacing the 4800 lb one that came with the boat. For some reason, the 4800 lb trailer never really worked for me. I think it was a smidge higher, and was thus harder to launch and also the bunks were not aligned properly so it was hard to snug up to the bow roller. After two trips this weekend, I can attest that this trailer launches and retrieves my CD22 well. It also seems to ride well while towing. The only modification I may make at some point is an electric over hydraulic conversion. Tjis trailer seems well matched to the CD22.

Glad to hear your trailer is working better. You had some trials there. RR makes a good trailer. Smooth ride and no sway.

The new trailer is working much better for you. A bit of a journey but a good result in the end. Glad to hear you had some fun in the san Juans this weekend

yes, thanks George and Terry. I am much happier with the new rig. Now I need to figure out how many times I will take it out over the winter months so as to decide how much winterizing I will do...

Have you weighed the boat on the trailer? 4000 lbs seems a bit on the low capacity side for a 22. Mine kept light with a single axle is 4500 lbs on the scales--trailer rated at 4800 lbs. No problems with over 7000 miles of trailering this year--total over 9,000 miles....

To keep the boat motor and trailer under 4,000 lbs will require keeping the boat very light.
