Yesterday we brought home our new canvas. Wow, is all we can say. Really doubled the space on the boat for all season use. After looking closely at Byrdman's camperback on his 18, we were very impressed with the work...so it was a no-brainer to tow the boat to Nashville to have ours made by the same shop. It was worth every mile!
Canvas Unique did the work, and we spoke several times with Josh, who was super to work with. These folks really know their craft, and they are rightfully proud of their work.
We got screens on all windows (except the side entry doors) and drop curtains. Since we spend so much time in the water cooling off in the summers, we have a door at the rear for easy access. The bimini is freestanding and has a zip off front section for extra airflow if we need it. All tubing and hardware is stainless.
Since we're fishermen first and cruisers second, the top had to be compatible with fishing. The bimini folds forward to allow room to fish. If we determine after a while that the current set up needs tweaking, we have a couple extra bases that we can install to give us the option of storing the top in a slightly different location to give more room. We're thinking it will probably work fine as it is.
For towing down the road, the rear position is extremely sturdy. The thing hardly wiggles around at all.
We highly recommend Canvas Unique. The workmanship is excellent and the folks are really nice.
