My brother-in-law bought me a generater as a boat warming gift knowing that his sister hated the heat. I told him that I was looking at a Honda but he found this bargain, $300.00! A "TQ IN1800I". First it would not start right out of the box. Next all the gas seeped int the oil over night because we left the fuel turned on. After changing the oil disconecting the low oil sensor it started really well. First night with the air in the front window worked great, for about an hour. Now the power overdraw light comes on and it is only putting out about 65 volts. I don't know if we can return it are not but I sure know it has not been worth the hastle. I guess you get what you pay for even if you don't pay for it.

THIS is apparently what you have. I'd try to return it. Sounds like a nightmare!

Got Lousy Reviews on Amazon too. Interesting that the only two good reviews are apparently written by Chinese folks and these are made, I would guess, in China.

Good luck. See if your BIL will take it back and give you a gift certificate to West Marine instead.

Thanks for posting this maybe others will be spared the misfortune. Sorry for your troubles. Now you have to deal with the gift family thing, what a conundrum. Leaving the gas on should not cause the crankcase to fill up with gas. Sounds like the float is stuck open in the carburetor. Not to offend anyone (especially your bother inlaw) but for me at least I'm not all thrilled with purchasing Chinese products that might require service, parts etc. down the road. I'm a benchmark kind of shopper. Honda and Yamaha have been berry, berry, good to me. :)
