Hello,

We are the Thompsons and we are new to the C-Dory community! We have just picked up our first C-Dory, a 2004 C-Dory 25 Cruiser. We are excited to get out adventuring with our 11 month old daughter and two golden retrievers. Would love to meet up with other C-Dory cruisers in the area!

First, Welcome aboard, and congratulations on the purchase of your C Dory 25. We cruised many thousands of miles with Labrador retrievers, including crossing the Atlantic Ocean, 3 Panama Canal transits and4 years cruising Alaska, plus Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean with our dogs. (Downsized to miniature poodles in the last few year)

We do have several other C Dory owners in Pensacola. The Highsmiths on Cat O Mine-Tom Cat 255. Steve and Tina Herman live on Bayou Chico and have a C Dory 22. Peter and Becky Clay have a C Dory 25 in the Fort Walton area.

We had to retire from C Dory ownership, but still have our dock and boat lift available for other C Dory owners. We live on Bayou Marcus, off upper Perdido Bay.

I will send you a PM, and we can get together.

Hi There!

Thank you for reaching out! We are still getting the hang of the C-Brats website, just seeing this response! I'll respond to your PM. Thank you!

Welcome, RR,

It’s been a great cruising area for 11 years with Cat O’ Mine, along with 4,800 segment miles of the Great Loop.

Gulf Islands National Seashore includes parts of many white sand barrier islands from Cat Island, MS to FL, including the popular Ft McRee cove. FYI dogs are prohibited (even if on a leash!) throughout all GINS sections with a $70 fine per dog. Even most locals don’t know this. There’s only one tiny sign at the far side of the cove and nowhere else.

Just north of the cove is what I believe is the narrowest part of the entire GICW. Towboat captains call it the ‘Pensacola Land Cut’ and make VHF calls when 20 minutes out and another when approaching it. Don’t be confused just because that’s not labeled on ANY chart…and don’t anchor and hang back if there’s a tow in there.

You may meet Bill on Osprey, Dakota on a 25, Brent and Dixie on Heart of Dixie, Glenn on Deep Blue C, Comfortably Numb, and others.

PM if you’d like to call or meet, and welcome to the group!

John
