I thought of a nice way to mount some equipment in lazarettes and add a raised backup bilge pump without using screws into fiberglass. I'll make some nifty pictures later, but here's the description.
Cut a piece of starboard slightly larger than the hole pattern of the item you are mounting. Drill 5/8" or so holes all the way through the starboard. Place the starboard piece where it will be mounted, held with tape. Mix up some thickened epoxy to mayo consistency and fill the holes flush to the surface. When the epoxy has cured, gently work the starboard off the epoxy 'posts'.
You now have a piece of starboard that you can secure your part (pump, fuse block, switch, etc.) to using screws. To secure the starboard to the fiberglass, pre drill holes in the center of each post, install the starboard block, and hold it to the posts using stainless screws with fender washers that are larger than the hole.
This is how I plan on installing my backup bilge pump that needed to be higher than the primary. It is also how I will install any new devices on the lazarette walls, since I don't want to drill any fiberglass, or epoxy wood blocks, etc.
When you want to permanently get rid of the component/block, remove the starboard and use a dremel to cut/grind off the epoxy posts.
