Hello all…New to the site. I joined to learn more about C-Dory. I am nearing retirement and this 22’ cruiser would appear to fit my needs exactly. I’ve looked extensively at used cruisers (seemingly a competitive sport due to high demand), but I’m leaning towards buying new. I’ve reached out to a few dealers via email but have never received a response. Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate for what 22’ cruisers go for new? I do not want much in the way of options. The boat will live mostly on lakes in the SE US, and the ICW. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. unfortunately missed the PNW boat shows, and C-Dory doesn’t participate in the ones down here!

I went to the 2025 Seattle boat show, and I believe a new 22 Cruiser was around $127k. It had a windlass, trim tabs, Wallas stove/heater, and two swim platforms. Not much else electronics-wise. Probably no trailer, but I do not recall.

After seeing the new model in person, I am happy with my used 2002 CD22. The differences are not very significant, and fixing up the boat is half the fun IMO. Plus, I can sell it for about what I paid for it.

That said, buy new if you're not much of a DIY'er. It'll keep the company in business. Oh, if buying new, take a look at the 23 Venture for an all-composite build. I doubt the fuel economy will be that different than the CD22, and it avoids the issues with balsa coring.
 
Your nearest dealer is most likely Three River's. Marine.They should respond.

To be comparable with new boats go to 2007 and newer, with fiberglass interior, and most likely an upgrade in the 90 HP engine.

To compare current prices: I bought a new Tom Cat, Float On Trailer, E/H brakes, and a used 3/4 ton. diesel truck for amount in 2007 that a new C Dory 22 sells for.

The balsa core is not a problem, unless it is penetrated, and not properly sealed, plus leaving the boat in freezing conditions during the winter. There are some high end boats using the balsa core, rather than foams. Boats are built to a price point. It used to be you could buy a C Dory 22 for the price it originally sold for. I do not believe that is true today.
 
The price of a new C-Dory 22 cruiser will vary depending on what you want added. I purchased a new one last year from NMI directly. Since I decided to go electric and bought my own motors and batteries the price of the basic hull was quite reasonable. NMI has a long list options at different prices. I paid a total of $83,595 for the hull and $7500 for the trailer. I added the hightop cabin extension ($1090) and shore power wiring ($3272),replaced hydraulic steering with cable steering, but deleted the following items:
Cushions (made my own)
Fuel tanks
Toilet
Water system with sink
No helm seat (added my own)
House Battery (used my own LiFePO4 12 V rather than going with the AGM they were using)

My two electric outboards (Epropusion Navy 3.0) cost $6000 and the 4 batteries were another $6000 (gave me a range of 50 miles at 5mph); The battery charger for the main bank was another $250 but the original price included the 12 V charger for the house battery and all the internal wiring and lights and circuit breakers.
 
P.S. I should add that I picked up the boat at the factory and did not have to pay for shipping costs. It was great working with NMI and they let me come watch when they were building it. I live in western Washington so I could visit them while it was being built.

Balsa and foam filler for composite construction each have their pluses and minuses. One is not hands down better than the other. It depends on the exact use case which one may be better.

FWIW, you can have water intrusion into foam core that may result in similar problems as with balsa core. Foam core is not a panacea.
 
A couple of comments here. Thank you 'shad' on your comment, (Oh, if buying new, take a look at the 23 Venture for an all-composite build. At the time of purchasing our new, 2018 C-Dory - 23 Venture Sport, it was built with balsa core. If we chose to build with high density foam fill core, it would of have required buying the 23 Venture. I prefer balsa. I don't believe things have changed today, but for those considering buying new, call the factory. Let us know here on C-Brats of their reply.

With today's cost for a new C-Dory, I personally do not think you will loose money on a new purchase. You may loose money on electronic if they become outdated. Investment wise, you could disagree but the value of owning a C-Dory for the value of fun and exploration, it cannot be measured! C-Dory vessels do hold their monetary value as we have have found in buying ours new 8 years ago. My, how time flies! :)
 
To follow up, someone posted the spec sheet of the CD22 I saw at the Seattle boat show on the C-Dory Owners FB group. The boat show price was $127,931. The price DID include a trailer, Garmin fish finder, Garmin VHF, Suzuki 115HP, windlass, swim platform, trim tabs, bilge pump, raw water washdown, and hydraulic steering. The optimistic list price was $150k.

As for the Venture 23, from what I understand the "Venture 23" is all-composite. The "Venture 23 Sport" has a balsa core and is lacking a few features of the "Venture 23" like headliners. Personally, I'd opt for a spartan build of the "Venture 23" if I was buying new and it fit the weight/budget/size. Then again, the enclosed heads of the Venture 26, CD25, and Tomcat 255 are nice. :-)
