Use an image for a link.
This image
will take you to an earlier post from me that has thumbnail size images. Scroll down to the second post and you will see the example I am talking about. When you click on one of the thumbnails, it will open a larger image. The reason I like it, is because when you put an image in your post, it takes time to load and those people that do not have hi-speed access may get discouraged waiting for the page to load, especially if there are multiple full size images on a page. I believe it will also tend to keep our threads cleaner.
And who knows, someday, someone may post a picture of a ugly dog
which could be traumatic to some of us. :wink :wink
In my examples I had to change the ][ to )( so the code displayed and not links or images. So every time you see a ) or ( substitute a ] or [.
To display an image for a link you would use the address URL
(url=http://url)URL text(/url)
Then you would place the image IMG
(img)http://image_url(/img)
in place of the URL text above.
So the results would look like this
(url=http://url)(img)http://image_url(/img)(/url)
Now I will use the example for the image ugly dog
(url=http://www.racoontrail.com/c-brats/images/uglydog.jpg)(img)http://www.racoontrail.com/c-brats/images/uglydogS.jpg(/img)(/url)
http://www.racoontrail.com/c-brats/images/uglydog.jpg is where the large image of the ugly dog is and http://www.racoontrail.com/c-brats/images/uglydogS.jpg is the thumbnail image.
